House of Marley offer a range of high quality products. The whole company is built on the principle of “offering superior quality and earth friendliness as well as a commitment to charitable causes”. So, how do their Rebel Bluetooth headphones fit into this philosophy? House of Marley sent out a pair out for us to take a closer look.Rebel_Web_550x550px_Navy

            Design & Comfort

The Rebel on-ear headphones are priced in the middle of House of Marley’s on-ear headphone range. These particular headphones come in a variety of colours, including navy (which is the colour we reviewed), grey, black and also a funky “Rasta” themed pair but these do not offer the Bluetooth functionality the other colours do.

The headphones have an eco-plastic material casing which feels strong and very premium. This was probably due to the company’s desire to produce products from recycled materials to be more environmentally friendly, but fortunately this doesn’t have any compromises as the headphones were solid and comfy.

[pullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”#108ad6″ class=”” size=””]”a sleek and elegant look that doesn’t compromise when it comes to comfort”[/pullquote]The headband is plain and navy with no branding. But on the inside of the headband is where you’ll find the Marley name imprinted. The casing of the headphones also show the company logo.

The sliders on the headphones are also very well designed. There are wires exposed either side of the headphones that expand accordingly when you adjust the headphones to fit your head. Also, on the inside of the sliders are the letters “R” & “L”, to indicate which way to put on the headphones.

The ear pads for the headphones are black with enough padding to provide a good amount of comfort. The housing on the headphones is where you will find the buttons and also the ports.

The design of the headphones was certainly one of our favourite things about the headphones. The Rebel headphones have a sleek and elegant look that doesn’t compromise when it comes to comfort.

            Functionality & Sound

As stated in the name, the Rebel headphones offer Bluetooth functionality. This means you can connect your device via Bluetooth to the headphones and listen to music wirelessly. To do this you have to keep the on button pressed for around three seconds for the device to turn on and pair. Once this is done you simply turn on the Bluetooth on your device and pair the headphones with the device and within a matter of seconds you’re set up and ready to go.

Screen Shot 2016-03-09 at 23.07.14All buttons are located conveniently on the right side of the headphones along with the microphone. Also located on the right side of the headphones is a port for you to insert a 3.5mm audio connection. This allows you to connect the headphones to your device via the wire if you wish to do so. Although we didn’t necessarily use this feature, it’s definitely a nice feature to have as it opens the headphones up to being used with non-Bluetooth devices too.

On the left side of the headphones, at the bottom is where you will find the microUSB port. This is where you will insert the microUSB cable that’s included in the box. The use of microUSB is definitely a convenient feature as it is a widely-used connector therefore finding cables to charge the headphones if you ever need them is easy.

In terms of actual charging, a 2.5-hour charge of the battery will give you around 12 hours use of the headphones. We definitely wanted to test the battery life out as when we were using them, it was almost as if they would never run out. So we put the battery to the test. But, as expected, the Rebel BT headphones performed and held their battery for just over 12 hours. So all in all, the battery life is phenomenal and will easily get you through a few days of casual use.

[pullquote align=”left” cite=”” link=”” color=”#108ad6″ class=”” size=””]”one of the best sounding headphones in its price range”[/pullquote] The headphones boast 40mmm drivers that provide good quality sound. Sound is not muffled and is impressive overall for the price. Although being a cheaper alternative, they are not likely to rival the higher-end models from the company or competitors that are sure to provide much more bass and clarity. However, the Rebel is certainly one of the best sounding headphones in its price range.

Overall, the Rebel BT headphones are fantastic headphones. They have brilliant sound for the price as well as coming with a sleek design and insane comfort.

The headphones are available on the company’s website as well other retailers such as Amazon. The regular price of the headphones on the company site was £39.99 at the time of this review, however they are currently being offered at  a special price of £29.99. Considering the quality and sound you get for a price of just under £30, we would definitely recommend the Rebel Bluetooth headphones.
